Objective of this blog.

The outbreak of Dutch Elm Disease (DED) of the late 1960's utterly devastated the population of elm trees in Lincolnshire, leaving suckers to be sent up in hedgerows by some varieties, only to be struck down again as the pathogens were still contained within the roots system. Over the last few years it has become apparent to me that a few individuals, of considerable age, have survived. This Blogspot has been set up to record those survivors for others to use in future research into the possibility of producing elm trees that may have some resistance to DED.
